Therapy
Providing a supportive, non-judgemental environment where you can feel more able to talk openly about your experiences
Talk’s therapeutic service is provided free of charge to children and young people under the age of 18
Talk is a service commissioned by Manx Care and provided in partnership with CAMHS.
What we do
We provide high and low intensity therapy services. Therapy can help young people with a range of mental health difficulties which may arise following a recent life change, friendship issues, experiencing bullying, academic pressures, conflicts at home, with family, or something else that might be impacting their day-to-day life.
Referrals can be made here. If you are unsure if we can help, please give our team a call on (01624) 679544. Even if we can’t help, we will always try to point you in the right direction.

What are Psychological Therapies?
Psychological therapies are sometimes referred to as ‘talking therapies’ and include 1-to-1 work between a trained professional and the individual that has been referred for support. At Talk we offer a range of different types of therapy. They involve talking to a trained person, exploring psychological difficulties and enhancing your wellbeing.

Low vs High Intensity Therapy
What’s the difference between low and high intensity therapy? Therapy is not a one size fits all approach, and, where possible, young people are assessed and allocated to a practitioner who’s therapeutic approach is best suited to their needs. If therapy is determined to be the best way forward, you will be offered a face-to-face initial assessment with one of therapists to determine if our service fits with your treatment goals.
Low Intensity Therapy
Generally a shorter-term intervention, which focuses on achievable goals such as increasing confidence in relationships, exams and improving your overall wellbeing.
High Intensity Therapy
Typically a longer-term intervention which can include targeted support for specific issues, which might be having a greater impact on your life at present.
Accessing therapy at Talk
Anyone can refer a young person for support, but this does not guarantee access to therapy.
With each new referral, a triage process takes place to determine the best course of action to best meet that individual’s needs. Every referral is assessed on a case-by-case basis. This may mean that we provide therapy via Talk, you may be signposted to an alternative specialist service, or where there are broad needs, you may be offered a combination of talking therapy within Talk, and support within a partner service.
